GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position provides assistance in the field of physical therapy under the direction of a licensed physical therapist.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. - Associate (A.A.) degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of/or ability to learn appropriate and various computer functions and programs including E-mail and word processing.
- Knowledge of/or ability to learn equipment used to serve children with orthopedic impairment in educational settings under the supervision of a Physical Therapist
- Certificates as determined by the District including current State of Oregon LPTA license.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

. The duties listed below are not inclusive, but characteristic of the type and level of work assigned for this position.
- Carries out the treatment plan provided by the physical therapist.
- Work with individuals or small groups of students with physical disabilities to achieve established goals and objectives.
- Collect and record student data as directed and communicate student needs and student progress to the physical therapist and the classroom teacher.
- Implement intervention programs for students with physical disabilities, both individually and in small groups, as directed by the physical therapist.
- Observe and evaluate student performance and report observations to supervisor and other team members as a part of the total evaluation and intervention planning.
- Maintain written records of frequency and duration of student activities and submit progress reports as directed by the supervising therapist.
- Maintain equipment, fabrication, supplies and records as specified by the supervising therapist.
- Bills for Medicaid reimbursement.
- Provides staff training on lifting, positioning, etc., as needed.
- May supervise PTA students (per licensure guidelines)
- Communicates with educational professionals and parents regarding student progress and other pertinent information.
- Provides housekeeping duties where physical therapy services are provided; cleans and organizes equipment.
