Lead crews. Solve technical challenges. Keep projects moving. IES Communications is seeking a Crew Lead - Structured Cabling to oversee on-site voice and data installation projects. This hands-on leadership role combines technical expertise, crew supervision, and customer coordination to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and to company and customer quality standards. What You'll Do Lead and develop installation crews: Assign work, provide training, monitor performance, and escalate concerns to the Project Manager when needed. Keep projects on track: Partner with the Project Manager and Project Lead to meet productivity goals, schedules, and project budgets. Maintain safety and quality: Conduct weekly safety meetings, perform quality checks, and ensure compliance with company and customer requirements. Troubleshoot technical issues: Apply your structured cabling knowledge to resolve installation challenges and support successful project completion. Coordinate project documentation: Complete timesheets, work orders, change orders, material and tool transfers, and other required paperwork accurately and on time. Support voice and data cross-connects: Coordinate moves and cut sheets, interpret project documents, and prepare red-lined as-built drawings. Serve as the on-site customer contact: Address questions and concerns and attend facility and construction meetings as needed. Identify process improvements and perform other duties as assigned. Tools & Technical Skills Must possess and effectively use standard installation hand tools, including screwdrivers, drywall saw, level, tape measure, snips with belt sheath, pliers, hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, and gloves. Required telecommunications tools include 110/66 punch-down tools, a 6/8-position combination crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX tools, a butt set, volt-ohmmeter, 4-pair continuity tester, and 5-gang punch tool. Leadership Expectations The Crew Lead is expected to provide hands-on leadership, coordinate daily work activities, maintain high standards for safety and quality, and support the team in resolving technical and operational issues. Successful individuals in this role are dependable, detail-oriented, technically capable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced data center environment. Qualifications Work Environment & Physical Requirements Work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces. Lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds. Regularly stand and walk across large jobsites. Distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals. Travel within the branch or regional territory as needed. Maintain regular attendance and a professional, self-motivated approach while representing IES with employees, customers, vendors, and partners. What You'll Bring 3+ years of experience in telecommunications, structured cabling, or a related technical field. 6+ months of supervisory or management experience. Hands-on ability to terminate fiber-optic cable. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project quality requirements. Knowledge of universal communications color codes. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project. Strong problem-solving, communication, organization, and customer service skills. High school diploma or GED. Ability to meet company minimum driving standards.
