THE POSITION

As a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Department of Transportation, you will help keep the Bureau of Motor Vehicles running smoothly. This role gives you a hands-on part in processing essential vehicle records and supporting staff needs. Your attention to detail helps ensure correct and efficient service for the public. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides clerical support that ensures accurate processing of applications and organized daily operations within the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. It involves reviewing documents, entering data, and assisting with specialized tag transactions. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Application Review: Examine forms to ensure required information and documents are complete and correct
  • Data Entry: Enter vehicle and registration information into programmed computer systems
  • Record Handling: Pick up, organize, and return work between transporter bins and your workstation
  • Customer Support: Respond to phone calls from agencies and departments and provide needed assistance
  • Tag Processing: Prepare, match, and release special tags and related registration materials
  • Report Maintenance: Maintain logs, production reports, and discrepancy records for review

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $39,287 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
