I. JOB OVERVIEW






Job Description Summary:
The Payroll Services Department within the Total Rewards Division is dedicated to providing accurate and timely services to employees and other stakeholders. We are responsible for paying all employees in compliance with federal and local labor laws. This position is responsible for the administration of payment to all employees for time worked in an accurate and timely manner in compliance with federal and local labor laws. Core responsibilities include reviewing requests for supplemental paychecks, calculating monies due and initiating payment, and reviewing payroll action forms and related transactions to modify employee records, including tax withholding certificates, direct deposit entry and employment verifications. This role reviews error reports during payroll processing and initiates changes, and gathers and reports statistical data on a monthly basis.
This position will work as part of the operations team in processing payroll in a timely and accurate manner to include both bi-weekly and monthly payrolls.
Responsibilities may also include:

  • Supporting the Automated Clearing House (ACH) process.
  • Processing direct deposit input.
  • Processing voided checks and stop payments.
  • Processing employment verification.
  • Imaging of payroll documents.
  • W2 form reissue.
  • Supporting check printing, deposit notifications and distribution.



Additional responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing payroll error reports and initiating changes to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing
  • Reviewing payroll action forms and initiating transactions to modify employee records, including tax withholding certificates and work-state information for unemployment purposes
  • Reviewing requests for supplemental paychecks, calculating amounts due, and initiating payment
  • Responding to payroll-related inquiries in a timely, accurate, and professional manner via phone and email

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/ GED plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Relevant fiscal experience and one year of automated payroll experience is preferred
  • Previous experience in a University environment is desirable

Hiring Range $21.80 - $28.32
