Senior Metallurgist - High Performance Alloys

Location: New Castle, PA (Onsite)


Position Summary

Seeking an experienced Senior Metallurgist with expertise in nickel-based superalloys, aerospace-grade materials, and advanced manufacturing processes. This role will lead alloy development, process optimization, and technical problem-solving initiatives while supporting new product commercialization and metallurgical excellence across manufacturing operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead metallurgical process improvement and new alloy development projects.
  • Support the development and commercialization of nickel-based superalloys and other high-performance materials.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting across manufacturing operations.
  • Review customer specifications and support new product opportunities.
  • Conduct metallurgical investigations, failure analysis, and root cause analysis.
  • Analyze material properties including mechanical, thermal, and corrosion performance.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor industry advancements and identify opportunities for innovation and growth.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field (MS or PhD preferred).
  • 8-10+ years of metallurgical experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with nickel-based superalloys and aerospace-grade materials is required.
  • Demonstrated success in alloy development, process optimization, and new product commercialization.
  • Expertise in physical metallurgy, microstructural analysis, heat treatment, and failure analysis.


Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of forging, rolling, extrusion, and deformation processing.
  • Experience with ASTM, NADCAP, and AS9100 standards.
  • Strong statistical analysis and process control capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
