Reporting to the Software Architect, the ServiceNow Developer is a senior technical resource who designs, builds, and implements solutions on the ServiceNow platform. The role automates business processes through highly complex workflows and custom applications that help UC ANR operate more efficiently and expand its use of the platform across the organization. As our ServiceNow Developer, you'll own meaningful, high-visibility work on a growing platform rather than a narrow slice of someone else's roadmap. You'll see your solutions put to use across the organization and collaborate with a supportive and experienced technical team. This position is a career appointment that is 100% fixed. The home department is IT Services. While this position normally is based in Davis, CA, this position is eligible for hybrid flexible work arrangements for applicants living in the State of California at this time. ServiceNow Development & Automation
Apply advanced software concepts to design, develop, test, and maintain platform solutions using JavaScript and core ServiceNow capabilities, including Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Actions, UI Policies, Script Includes, and related technologies. Develop conversion and system implementation plans. Perform or direct highly complex data modeling, performance and integration testing and build interfaces. Build automated workflows with Flow Designer and other automation tools to streamline processes, replace manual work, and expand ServiceNow adoption across UC ANR. Create and maintain scoped applications and custom solutions that extend the platform beyond out-of-the-box functionality. Enhance service catalog items, forms, portals, and workspaces to deliver intuitive experiences for end users. Follow ServiceNow development standards that keep solutions maintainable, scalable, secure, and upgrade-ready.

Integrations & Technical Support
Design, build, and maintain integrations between ServiceNow and other enterprise systems using REST and SOAP APIs, IntegrationHub, and web services. Manage development activities across the full lifecycle: technical design, coding, testing, code promotion, deployment, and post-implementation support. Develop and run testing for applications, workflows, integrations, and platform changes, and support deployment across ServiceNow environments. Diagnose and resolve complex application, scripting, workflow, integration, and performance issues. Assess custom solutions for compatibility with platform upgrades and remediate them as needed. Prepares and approves or obtains approval for system and programming documentation. Initiates and oversees changes in development, maintenance and system standards. Sets the technical requirements for complex software specifications.

Collaboration & Solution Design
Partner with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to translate requirements into scalable ServiceNow solutions and technical designs. Provide development expertise, technical guidance, and code review, and share knowledge with IT staff and others working with the platform. Maintain technical specifications, solution and integration documentation, development standards, and support procedures. Evaluate new ServiceNow features and recommend ways to expand automation and improve how the platform is used across UC ANR.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Three to five (3-5) years of progressively responsible experience developing on the ServiceNow platform, including workflow automation, scripting, configuration, and custom application development. Proficiency in JavaScript and hands-on experience with ServiceNow technologies such as Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes, UI Actions, and UI Policies. Advanced Experience building automated workflows in Flow Designer and developing or extending ServiceNow applications to support business processes. Highly Advanced Experience developing and supporting integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, web services, IntegrationHub, or comparable technologies. Demonstrated ability to analyze requirements, design solutions, write and test code, troubleshoot complex issues, and support solutions through deployment and ongoing maintenance. Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and to produce clear technical documentation. Advanced knowledge of secure software development. Excellent project leadership and management skills. Advanced experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms. Experience developing and executing complex test plans. Demonstrated complex problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD), Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS), or other relevant ServiceNow certification. Experience with ServiceNow ITSM, HR Service Delivery (HRSD), IT Asset Management (ITAM), or other ServiceNow products and modules. Experience developing scoped applications and reusable components on the platform. Experience with the ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF) and upgrade-friendly development practices. Familiarity with ITIL principles and IT service management practices. Experience automating business processes beyond traditional IT service management. Familiarity with University of California IT policies, security standards, and data-classification requirements.
Special Conditions of Employment:
Must possess valid California Driver's License to drive a County or University vehicle. Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability damage insurance on vehicle used is required. Reimbursement of job-related travel will be reimbursed according to University policies.
