Posting Type: Open Competitive Work Type: Full Time Nature of Work: This is skilled administrative work for the City Council. Work includes office management, administrative support for City Councilmembers and Council Staff, quality control of department communications, independent projects, and providing support to Council-created boards and committees. An employee in this classification works with considerable independence, making decisions based on independent judgment, experience, and knowledge of city and departmental policies, under general supervision from the City Council Chief of Staff. Education and Experience: The knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through, but are not limited to, the following combination of education and/or experience. High school graduation or equivalent AND Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional, administrative, or high-level clerical experience in municipal, county, state or federal government or in a comparable private sector or not-for-profit organization. Special Qualifications: Must pass a typing test with a net accuracy of at least forty (40) words per minute with 90% accuracy at the time of application. Candidates must complete the typing test by October 30, 2026. Paid leave per year: twelve days vacation; five days management; fifteen days sick; and fifteen holidays. Examination Information: The examination will consist of a structured interview which will be scheduled at a later date. The structured interview is designed to assess job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. The final eligibility list will be assembled from those candidates achieving a passing score of 60% on the structured interview (100% weight). Veteran Points: To claim five (5) points for veteran's preference, you must submit proof of service (such as a DD-214) that includes the date of induction, date of honorable separation, and Social Security number. (You must have completed more than 180 consecutive days of active duty.) To receive an additional five (5) points credit for disability, you must submit proof of eligibility from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs dated within the last 12 months.
