Location:Fayetteville, NC
Schedule/Shift: C Shift, Friday-Sunday, 6:00 AM-6:00 PM
Pay:$22.81 - $34.89 per hour

Job Summary

The Sheet Metal Fabricator fabricates, modifies, and assembles sheet metal components using manufacturing drawings, work instructions, and a variety of fabrication equipment. The role operates multiple workstations, maintains production flow and material availability, and ensures completed work meets quality and production requirements. This position also supports equipment maintenance, production documentation, 5S standards, and coordination with Engineering, Quality, and storeroom personnel.

Job Responsibilities



  • Fabricate and modify sheet metal parts, including bus connectors, risers, taps, mains, braces, spacers, barriers, and supports.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, manufacturing information sheets, and written or oral instructions.
  • Use workstation computers to access blueprints, review job orders, and update completed orders in the production management system.
  • Determine required materials, prepare requisitions, and coordinate with material handlers to obtain parts and supplies.
  • Set up and operate fabrication equipment, including FMS, press brakes, shears, punches, benders, nibblers, and spot welders.
  • Operate multiple workstations to meet takt time and daily production requirements.
  • Use electric trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, ergonomic lifts, and cranes to move materials and finished products.
  • Assemble, tape, sleeve, deburr, and finish fabricated components as required.
  • Modify or add cutouts and holes to doors, covers, and other components using punches and nibblers.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment, clear slugs, and inspect punches as needed.
  • Maintain production records, control boards, hourly charts, 5S checklists, and TPM documentation.
  • Maintain reference sketches and communicate information to Engineering and supervisors to support drawing updates and standardization.
  • Monitor supply bins and report material shortages or potential production issues.
  • Contact Engineering when fabrication or design issues arise.
  • Coordinate material and production needs with storeroom personnel.
  • Inspect completed work, report quality concerns, and maintain piece counts and related production records.
  • Follow all required safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and meet daily 5S standards.


Job Requirements



  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and manufacturing drawings.
  • Sufficient knowledge of operating metal fabrication machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to create sketches of bus bar assemblies from completed assemblies on the production floor.
  • Ability to operate multiple fabrication workstations and meet production takt time or daily demand requirements.
  • Ability to use hand tools and material-handling equipment safely.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and maintain accurate production records.
  • Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Quality, supervisors, material handlers, and other production personnel.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area.


Education



  • High School Diploma or GED.
