Job Summary
The Advanced Classification and Compensation Analyst provides professional-level expertise and analytical support for job classification and compensation decisions. This role conducts job analysis and evaluation, supports job documentation and career-level placement, and performs market pricing and survey-based analysis to inform pay positioning. The Advanced Analyst supports compensation program administration and the annual salary planning cycle by preparing tools and templates, maintaining data integrity in Institute systems, and producing rigorous analytics and reporting. Working under general direction and established practices, the Advanced Analyst partners with Human Resources Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and unit stakeholders to deliver timely, well-documented recommendations and customer support. This position contributes to training and program rollouts and may lead discrete workstreams (for example, survey submissions, market pricing projects, or targeted analytics) while not having formal people management responsibilities or Institute-wide program ownership. Responsibilities
Job Duty 1
Provide classification and compensation consulting support for assigned client groups by responding to inquiries, gathering requirements, and preparing recommendations consistent with established guidelines and practices.
Job Duty 2
Conduct job analyses and support job evaluation and leveling by collecting and synthesizing information from managers and employees; recommend appropriate classification outcomes supported by documentation.
Job Duty 3
Review, draft, and update job descriptions to ensure accurate representation of duties, scope, and required qualifications; partner with stakeholders to validate job content and organizational context.
Job Duty 4
Conduct compensation surveys and market pricing activities, including job matching, survey submission preparation, survey interpretation, and development of market pricing recommendations supported by clear rationale.
Job Duty 5
Build, develop, and maintain salary survey resources and market pricing files (for example, job matching libraries, survey calendars, and submission documentation) to strengthen consistency and audit readiness.
Job Duty 6
Perform rigorous analytics on pay data (for example, pay progression trends, internal alignment diagnostics,compa-ratio reporting, and targeted assessments) and translate findings into clear, decision-support outputs.
Job Duty 7
Support salary planning tools and the annual compensation cycle by developing and distributing planning templates, validating calculations, and providing training and ongoing assistance to Human Resources partners and managers.
Job Duty 8
Review and process pay actions (for example, new hires, promotions, transfers, retention actions, and other pay changes) by applying established practices and documenting recommendations; escalate exceptions as appropriate.
Job Duty 9
Maintain and validate compensation and classification data in Institute systems and planning tools; support testing/validation of updates; troubleshoot workflow issues; and improve standard work and documentation.
