The University of Iowa Department of Surgery is seeking a temporary, hourly Research Assistant to support Dr. Weigel's laboratory by assisting with basic research activities focused on understanding transcription mechanisms in breast cancer and melanoma. Responsibilities Include: * Perform basic research activities, including procedures on laboratory animals * Assist with experimental design, including revising protocols * Data collection and analysis * Compiling results to present to team * Assist with general laboratory operations, equipment cleaning, and troubleshooting * Reviewing scientific literature * Other duties as assigned Schedule: This position is expected to work on an as-needed basis, up to 20 hours/week. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Biological science or health degree preferred * Previous research experience * Previous experience handling laboratory animals Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any conviction history and will be subject to a criminal background check and credential/education verification.
