Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems in a Linux environment. This position requires strong development experience with C++ and Python and involves building high-performance applications, developing complex algorithms, integrating software with hardware and systems, and supporting large-scale and real-time processing environments.

The ideal candidate will have extensive software engineering experience and the ability to provide technical leadership to software development teams. Experience with DSP and RF technologies is highly desired.


What will you do?

  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems and applications.
  • Develop software in Linux environments using C++ and Python.
  • Analyze user and system requirements to derive software design, functional, and performance requirements.
  • Design and implement complex algorithms to meet system performance and functional requirements.
  • Develop algorithms operating under strict timing, system-resource, and interface constraints.
  • Develop software supporting processing-intensive analytics, large datasets, real-time systems, and algorithmic applications.
  • Design and code new software and modify existing applications to add capabilities and features.
  • Debug existing software, identify root causes, and correct defects.
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments.
  • Modify software to support new hardware and improve system performance.
  • Develop and implement database and data-repository interfaces and queries.
  • Review and test software components for compliance with design and performance requirements.
  • Develop and execute software test procedures and document test results.
  • Perform quality control on software products and team deliverables.
  • Analyze system performance, data usage, system flows, and work processes to identify and resolve technical problems.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements, interfaces, performance requirements, and system constraints.
  • Provide input on hardware/software tradeoffs, software reuse, and the integration of COTS/GOTS solutions.
  • Write, review, and maintain software and system documentation.
  • Implement improvements to software development processes and documentation standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversee software development teams to ensure work is completed in accordance with established development processes.
  • Coordinate software system installation and monitor system/equipment functionality to ensure operational requirements are met.
  • Support containerized software environments utilizing Kubernetes and Docker.

Do you have what it takes?

  • TS/SCI with Poly required
  • 14+ years of Software Engineering experience on programs or contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
    • Four additional years of Software Engineering experience on projects utilizing similar software processes may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
  • Experience developing software in a Linux environment.
  • Strong software development experience with:
    • C++
    • Python
  • Experience designing, developing, debugging, testing, and integrating complex software systems.
  • Experience developing and implementing complex algorithms.
  • Experience translating user and system requirements into software design and performance requirements.
  • Experience working with systems and hardware engineers on integrated software solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership within software development teams.

VTG's estimated starting pay range is $170K-$240K annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
