SMT Rework Technician, Electronics Repair Technician Position Summary The SMT Rework Technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and reworking surface mount technology (SMT) and through-hole electronic assemblies. This role requires expertise in soldering, component replacement, PCB repair, and adherence to IPC workmanship standards to ensure product quality and reliability. Key Responsibilities
- Perform SMT and through-hole component rework and repair on printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs).
- Remove and replace defective components including resistors, capacitors, ICs, BGAs, QFNs, QFPs, connectors, and other electronic devices.
- Utilize soldering irons, hot air rework stations, BGA rework equipment, and other specialized tools.
- Interpret assembly drawings, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), engineering change orders (ECOs), and work instructions.
- Inspect assemblies for solder defects, component orientation, missing parts, and workmanship issues.
- Perform touch-up soldering and repair activities to meet IPC quality requirements.
- Document rework performed and maintain accurate production records.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for manufacturing defects.
- Verify repairs through visual inspection and functional testing.
- Work closely with Quality, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, and Test teams to resolve assembly issues.
- Follow all ESD, safety, and quality procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
