How you'll make an impact:
Under direct supervision, the Associate Producer, College Sports, Part-time is responsible for the show preparation of an assigned talk show or shows. The associate producer will meet with producers and director on a regular basis and will report to the director of college sports programming. The associate producer will help manage the flow of the show including controlling the audio console, monitoring audio levels/quality, identifying best audio as well as screen callers for the program.

What you'll do:

  • Check studio equipment and show logs for proper functioning prior to going on air, reporting technical problems and equipment malfunctions.
  • Monitor assigned channels for quality control and report content errors and technical issues to the appropriate individuals for correction.
  • Edit audio, including inserting clips, sound bites, and other assigned elements.
  • Maintain a database of program content for archival use.
  • Run the audio board for assigned live and taped programs and edit audio for on-air use.
  • Determine the appropriate mix of sound elements for assigned shows and ensure levels are mixed properly, following established production practices.
  • Enter clip information, music, and non-music elements into audio software; load and delete clips; and edit promos and spots.
  • Monitor and post on social media accounts associated with the channel.
  • Ensure the on-air product meets established broadcast standards before it leaves the studio and that studio sound equipment is functioning properly during programs.
  • Work with Producers and Talent to follow programming clocks so all content and advertisements are featured as planned.
  • Work with Producers, Talent, and Directors to contribute creative promo and sound ideas that enhance program content.
  • Choose sound effects and other assigned audio elements to enhance program content and image.
  • Provide cues and support to Talent to facilitate program continuity.
  • Screen incoming calls, select callers in accordance with show direction, put listener calls through to on-air Talent, and end calls.
  • Work with Producers to create and edit "Best of..." programs from archived shows for weekend or special rebroadcasting needs.
  • As assigned, assist Producers with news updates, breaking stories, guest booking, research, and Talent needs.
  • Provide occasional coverage of assigned Producer tasks, including nights and weekends, under appropriate direction and without ongoing independent ownership of a program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Ability to learn and apply professional audio and radio production concepts, tools, and established procedures.
  • Previous use of Adobe Audition preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Pro Tools, Cool Edit, and Adobe Audition.
  • Social media skills, including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
  • Ability to operate studio sound equipment and mix sound elements into a professional-sounding product.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent creative writing and communication skills for radio.
  • Highly detail oriented.
  • Strong interest in sports, current events, and pop culture as related to assigned channels and programs.
  • Comfort working with Talent, artists, and high-profile individuals.
  • Strong knowledge of various programming genres.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Availability to work early mornings, nights, and/or weekends.
  • Working knowledge of College Sports.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

Skills:

  • Audio board operation and studio sound equipment.
  • Audio editing and mixing using Pro Tools, Cool Edit, and Adobe Audition.
  • Broadcast quality control and programming-clock execution.
  • Radio writing, communication, collaboration, and time management.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the hourly rate for this position to be $21/hour and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
