The BIW Project Chief has job responsibilities that include but not limited to:
- Single engineering contact point for communication between suppliers, purchasing, SQE, PDO, assembly plants and other BICEE groups. Develop network/ relationships with other BICEEP counterparts
- Support the SSTM in the technical interface with PDO and AVE.
- Support the SSTM by coordinating commodity specific deliverables to the vehicle-line.
- Attend Platform level meeting for issues resolution and general support
- Lead Component Timing, Cost, Weight, Investment activities for vehicle model. Manage deliverables in PDP system
- Lead source package process, ensure timely deliverables, approval & source award
- Support Cost Loops, input technical description in the Cost Service Tool (CST), manage cost collaboration with SCIE
- Lead approval process for ED&D funding
- Support CAD Step Reviews (Score Card/Gate Reviews), ensure all Engineering deliverables meet program milestones
- Lead TKO process
- Manage the Compliance procedures and reports lifecycle to demonstrate regulatory compliance
- Lead change management (CCD, CN, PER processes, cost & timing, approval and implementation)
- Lead build coordination and Assembly plant support. Ensure proper engineering support for problem resolution.
- Coordinate technical issue resolution (GIMS, Warranty, Fast Feedback, SAQ issues, etc.)
- Coordinate component, system & vehicle level test. Manage test timing and component procurement. (Mules, DV, PV, DVP&R)
- Lead program bulletin analysis and response to SSTM
- Provide feedback and impacts from series cards audit. Perform complexity analysis/ reduction.
- Lead system effort to achieve VO/ TCR targets
- Obtain quotes and submit requisition for parts and services procurement
- Coaching/ mentoring of engineers. Develop PC succession plan.
- Escalate tasks not completed to responsible managers
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in engineering (mechanical, aeronautical, automotive, electro-mechanics, EE or related field).
- 8 years' of work experience.
- Self-directed, ownership, sense of urgency, absolute attention to every detail.
- Proficient in communicating in technical English language, comfortable with reporting out to top management.
- Highly developed leadership, project management, negotiation and mentoring skills.
- Knowledgeable in the design, development and engineering processes of automotive Body system.
- Knowledgeable in manufacturing processes for BIW, sheet metal stamped components and involved secondary operations.
- Knowledgeable in engineering materials & fasteners selection.
- Knowledgeable in global automotive product development process.
- Reactive Problem Solving green belt certificate.
- Basic knowledge in dimensional strategies (GD&T, datum and location schemes).
- Knowledge in regulatory requirements (FMVSS, CMVSS, ECE R21, etc.) with focus in BIW.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBS or MBA degree
- Reactive Problem Solving black belt certificate.
- DFSS green belt certificate.
- Basic Design skill in CAD systems (NX or Catia)
- With international working experience
