Program Location for 2027:Charlotte, NC

Seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Real Estate & Facilities Management Intern to join Duke Energy's Supply Chain & Real Estate organization. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across corporate real estate, facilities management, workplace strategy, property operations, and land services. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals while supporting projects that help meet Duke Energy's operational, workplace, and strategic property needs. Opportunities may include exposure to portfolio planning, workplace strategy, facilities operations, project management, real estate transactions, vendor management, data analytics, and land services activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Property & Facilities Support: Assist with activities related to real estate, facilities management, workplace operations, and property assets that support Duke Energy's operational and business needs.

  • Project Support: Provide general support for real estate, facilities, workplace strategy, and land management projects, including coordinating with internal stakeholders and external contractors.

  • Third-Party Vendor Management: Support vendor relationships by coordinating activities, monitoring schedules and service quality, and facilitating communication between Duke Energy and service providers.

  • Facility Improvement & Capital Projects: Assist with facility renovations, workplace enhancements, office relocations, and capital improvement projects by tracking milestones, coordinating activities, and supporting project documentation.

  • Document Preparation & Management: Review and maintain documentation related to property records, easements, contracts, leases, facility projects, and other real estate transactions.

  • Data Management & Reporting: Maintain and update records related to facilities, real estate assets, project status, and workplace metrics. Generate reports and summaries to support project tracking and management reviews.

  • Workplace Strategy & Space Planning: Support workplace planning and space utilization efforts through data collection, analysis, and stakeholder engagement activities.

  • Field Visits: Participate in visits to company facilities and properties to gain exposure to facilities operations, workplace environments, real estate assets, and project activities.

  • Research & Analysis: Conduct research related to property ownership, facility utilization, workplace trends, and operational best practices to support planning and decision-making.

  • Facilities Operations Support: Assist with facility maintenance coordination, service requests, and workplace experience initiatives that contribute to a safe and productive work environment.

Basic Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university in Business, Real Estate, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Finance, Engineering, Economics, Supply Chain, or related field.

  • Cumulative GPA of at least 2.75.

  • Must not graduate prior to August 2027

Desired Qualifications
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • Demonstrated interest in real estate, facilities management, workplace strategy, project management, analytics, finance, or related disciplines.

  • Leadership potential demonstrated through extracurricular activities, internships, community service, athletics, or campus organizations.

  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Self-driven, motivated, and eager to learn.

Working Conditions:
  • Hybrid - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility. Reliable, consistent transportation is required to ensure timely arrival at the applicable facility.

  • Many of our opportunities require a 40-hour work week.

  • Internship summer session length is 10-12 weeks

  • Must have the ability to pass a background check and drug screening prior to employment
