Job Summary Provides technical and administrative patient support to the ophthalmic care team, including Ophthalmologists, Orthoptists, and Residents. Supports the delivery of safe, efficient, and compassionate care to patients and families in the outpatient ophthalmic clinic. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions -Supports the care team in assessing patients and documenting responses and changes in condition. -Prepares patients for visual field testing and other ophthalmic assessments. -Obtains and documents patient history and chief eye complaints. -Supports efficient patient flow by coordinating testing and adjusting the sequence of activities based on patient and clinic needs. -Performs color vision, glare, and brightness testing. -Follows infection prevention and control policies and procedures. -Records and updates current eye medications, ophthalmic history, and relevant medical history in the patient's health record. -Maintains compliance with professional standards, organizational policies and procedures, applicable federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission standards. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials None required. Experience 0-1 year of experience in an ophthalmic, healthcare, or related clinical setting preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of medical terminology and basic healthcare practices. Strong patient and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients, families, and members of the care team. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively as part of a collaborative team. Ability to remain focused and motivated while managing challenges in a fast-paced clinical environment. Strong problem-solving and organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat DC.
