What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a motivated and team-oriented R&D Cell Engineering Technician to support preparation of battery cell components and prototype cell fabrication on the second shift. This role focuses on dry electrode process optimization and development for lithium-ion batteries within the cell development team. The position is 100 percent hands-on in an R&D laboratory environment and requires direct experience with battery electrode processes, cell components, and prototype assembly procedures.


What You'll Do
  • Prepare battery cell components including electrodes, separators, and pouch cases through cutting, welding, and drying for assembly
  • Fabricate various prototype battery cell configurations
  • Document cell component preparations and prototype cell assembly using travelers, SOP documents, and database systems
  • Assist with operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and procurement of cell components
  • Communicate work status and technical results to the team and supervisor

What You'll Bring
  • 1+ years of hands-on technical experience in an R&D laboratory environment
  • Experience with battery cell component processing and prototype Li-ion cell fabrication preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Windows and Office software
  • Ability to document travelers, test results, and SOPs using MS Office programs
  • Capability to work in a moisture-controlled dry room environment
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to follow direction and execute technical tasks with minimal supervision

    Expected Compensation
    $23.18 - $62.13/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
