The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. The Department of Radiation Oncology, Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California is a robust team of clinicians and basic science/clinical researchers consisting of approximately 15 physician faculty and 10 medical physicist faculty. We provide services at seven hospitals, including Keck Hospital of USC, Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, USC Arcadia Hospital, Henry Mayo Newall Hospital and five community-based clinics. The Department has ACR accreditation for USC Norris Cancer Hospital and its Keck Medicine of USC regional radiation oncology clinics. The CHLA radiation oncology unit has earned APEX accreditation and is part of the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. The program is a full member of the NRG, NSABP, and GOG. It also participates in clinical trials sponsored by SWOG. Our medical physics faculty are directly involved in ensuring quality and safety for clinical operations, clinical research, and education and are maintain a CAMPEP accredited medical physics residency training program.

The Department at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center is equipped with a Varian Truebeam STX with Brain Lab ExacTrac for high precision monitoring of positioning during treatment, a Varian Truebeam with HyperArc, and a Trilogy machine. Additional integrated technologies include a dedicated Siemens CT simulator, Varian RPM respiratory gating, and prone breast technique. The HDR brachytherapy program is housed in a dedicated procedural suite with full anesthesia capability, and Bravos HDR brachytherapy unit and is active in GU, GYN, skin cancers with plans to add other disease sites. The Keck Hospital houses a new Gamma knife Espirit. . An ongoing program in ocular melanoma involves joint faculty from the Roski Eye Institute who treat patients with episcleral plaque brachytherapy. The department's community-based clinics feature new Varian Truebeam and Halcyon (ring-based gantry) linear accelerators with capabilities for gating, radiosurgery and SBRT.

Position Summary

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC) is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Radiation Oncologist to join our faculty at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will receive an academic appointment at a rank commensurate with their qualifications, training, and experience.

This position offers the opportunity to practice in two thriving regional cancer programs within the Keck Medicine of USC network: the Keck Medicine/Henry Mayo Cancer Program in Santa Clarita and the Keck Medicine Arcadia, multispecialty clinics located adjacent to USC Arcadia Hospital. The successful candidate will serve as the one of two Radiation Oncologist at both sites, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide exceptional, patient-centered cancer care.

In addition to their primary clinical responsibilities, the faculty member will participate in providing clinical coverage at other Keck Medicine community radiation oncology practices throughout the Los Angeles and Orange County regions as needed. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the department's primary mission of excellence in clinical care while practicing within a growing, integrated academic health system.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible Physician (MD or DO); California Medical License, ABR certification or progression
  • Graduate of a United States ACGME accredited 4-yr residency program in Radiation Oncology
  • Possess a California Fluoroscopic supervisor's license
  • Radiation Oncology experience in an academic medical center satellite or community setting

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal faculty candidate should possess excellent leadership skills in a community-based radiation oncology setting, familiarity with community-based health care, rich experience in oncology practice and operations, and ability to promote a culture of quality and safety.

The annual base salary range for this position is $340,000 - $380,000.
