Phlebotomist II Worksite: Labcorp at Legacy Meridian Park Hospital, Tualatin, OR 97062 Duration: 3+ months Contract-to-Perm Schedule: 2nd Shift - 1:00 PM-9:30 PM Interview: Video Conference Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II to support laboratory operations at Labcorp at Legacy Meridian Park Hospital in Tualatin, Oregon. The Phlebotomist II will perform blood draws, collect and handle specimens, accurately label and process samples, maintain patient information, and ensure specimens are prepared and transported according to established procedures. This position requires recent venipuncture experience and the ability to work effectively in a hospital laboratory environment. Key Responsibilities Perform blood draws/venipunctures using straight needles and butterfly needles. Explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process clearly and courteously to patients. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Properly label specimens and verify patient identification. Match laboratory requisition forms with the appropriate specimen tubes. Review test requisitions and computer-generated labels against orders to ensure accuracy. Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens according to test requirements. Package specimens for transport. Store specimens at the required temperature and in appropriate collection containers/tubes. Follow established protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transportation. Update patient information as required. Record maintenance data and perform decontamination activities. Understand and follow physician orders and laboratory procedures. Answer telephone calls and assist with laboratory-related inquiries, including reading laboratory results when appropriate. Follow OSHA and DEP regulations and established safety procedures. Attend required annual departmental training. Assist with troubleshooting and making workflow recommendations. Perform other assigned phlebotomy and laboratory support duties. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting. Recent phlebotomy experience. Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, where required. Experience performing blood draws. Ability to accurately label and handle laboratory specimens. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Preferred Experience Experience with specimen centrifugation, splitting, and freezing. Experience packaging specimens for transportation. Experience handling urine or fecal specimens. Experience working in a hospital or laboratory environment. Familiarity with laboratory specimen handling and transportation procedures. Work Environment Hospital laboratory setting. | |
