The System Strategy Advisor serves as an internal strategy consultant and trusted advisor to executive leadership, developing long-range, enterprise-wide strategies that shape the future direction of Children's Hospital Colorado. This role evaluates growth opportunities, emerging care models, market dynamics, service line strategies, facility and capacity needs, geographic expansion opportunities, and enterprise investment priorities. The Advisor supports executive decision-making through structured problem solving, market and organizational assessment, scenario planning, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and development of strategic alternatives and recommendations.
The Advisor partners with vice presidents, C-suite leaders, and physician leaders to challenge assumptions, evaluate trade-offs, and build alignment around decisions with long-term implications for patients, providers, and the broader health system. The Advisor brings an independent, data-informed perspective and leads challenging conversations among senior leaders with competing priorities.
This role is intended for professionals with formal strategy experience, either in a health system strategy department (adult or pediatric) or in healthcare strategy consulting, who have a track record of advising executive leadership on enterprise-level decisions.

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Advisory
1. Develops long-range enterprise strategies, strategic plans, and recommendations that influence the future direction of the organization, including service line growth, care model evolution, geographic expansion, capacity planning, and investment priorities.
2. Serves as an internal strategy consultant and trusted advisor to executive leadership, providing independent, data-informed recommendations on complex organizational issues and opportunities.
3. Identifies, evaluates, and develops strategic alternatives through structured problem solving, market assessment, organizational assessment, stakeholder engagement, and quantitative and qualitative analysis.
4. Partners with executive, physician, and operational leaders to assess emerging trends, strategic risks, competitive positioning, and opportunities that may impact organizational performance and growth.
Analysis & Strategic Insight
1. Leads enterprise-level analyses to inform strategic decision-making, including market assessments, demand forecasting, business planning, service line evaluations, capacity analyses, scenario modeling, and investment prioritization.
2. Synthesizes internal data, external benchmarks, market intelligence, financial information, and stakeholder perspectives into actionable strategic insights and recommendations.
3. Develops business cases, strategic frameworks, decision support tools, and executive briefings that facilitate informed organizational decision-making.
4. Evaluates strategic trade-offs, implications, and potential outcomes associated with alternative courses of action and communicates findings to senior leadership.
Executive Engagement & Facilitation
1. Facilitates complex discussions among vice presidents, physician leaders, and executive leadership to evaluate strategic opportunities, challenge assumptions, surface competing priorities, and build alignment around enterprise decisions.
2. Develops and delivers executive-level presentations and strategic communications that effectively convey analyses, recommendations, risks, and decision points.
3. Establishes credibility and influence across diverse stakeholder groups through thought leadership, analytical rigor, and effective communication.
Strategy Development & Portfolio Support
1. Supports the development, refinement, and monitoring of enterprise strategic priorities and associated strategic initiatives.
2. Leads or contributes to enterprise strategy projects involving organizational growth, service distribution, care model design, network development, facility planning, capacity planning, research strategy, digital strategy, and other high-priority organizational initiatives.
3. Works collaboratively across the organization to ensure strategic recommendations are informed by operational, clinical, financial, and market considerations while maintaining focus on long-term organizational objectives.
Enterprise Leadership & Cultural Stewardship
1. Models Children's Hospital Colorado's mission, values, and culture by fostering collaborative partnerships, demonstrating integrity and intellectual curiosity, incorporating diverse perspectives into strategic planning, and facilitating respectful, transparent discussions that build trust and alignment across the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degrees
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Economics, Analytics, or related field.
- Experience
- Three (3) years of experience in healthcare strategy, planning, and organizational development with emphasis on analyzing and interpreting large databases, utilizing data visualization to provide recommendations.
- Preferred qualifications: Master's degree plus one year experience in strategy planning.
- Equivalency
- Combination of additional experience and education may substitute on a 1:1 year basis.
Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $112,925.51 to $169,388.27
