Shift: Monday - Friday | 8 AM - 5 PM

As a Transportation Clerk, you will coordinate transportation activities, optimize load planning, maintain shipment records, communicate with carriers and customers, and work closely with warehouse teams to ensure efficient and accurate delivery operations.

The Transportation Clerk plays a critical role in daily logistics operations by combining strong administrative precision with data-driven analytical skills. Primary responsibilities involve leveraging Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to plan, optimize, and build loads while serving as a key liaison between carriers, vendors, customer service, and warehouse personnel. This role requires an individual who can navigate inventory data, coordinate floor-level warehouse details, and proactively keep external customers and internal stakeholders informed.

Requirements


  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain administration
  • Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • Strong computer knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or ERP platforms preferred


Job Duties


  • Build, consolidate, and optimize inbound and outbound loads using a Transportation Management System (TMS)
  • Analyze order volumes, weight capacities, delivery schedules, and freight costs to maximize efficiency
  • Adjust transportation schedules based on inventory levels and customer priorities
  • Monitor and track shipments while maintaining accurate transportation records
  • Audit freight bills and generate transportation performance reports
  • Maintain bills of lading (BOLs), shipping manifests, and vendor compliance documentation
  • Coordinate with carriers, logistics providers, and vendors to schedule pickups and deliveries
  • Troubleshoot transportation delays, missed appointments, and carrier-related issues
  • Work closely with warehouse personnel to verify inventory availability and load readiness
  • Resolve discrepancies between system inventory and physical inventory counts
  • Coordinate dock schedules and support warehouse logistics activities
  • Provide transportation updates and shipment status reports to internal teams and customers
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding shipment tracking and delivery schedules
  • Communicate potential delays or inventory shortages to customer service and operations teams



Physical Capabilities



  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely load, unload, and organize products in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to work in varying warehouse temperatures and production conditions as required.
