Position Summary:
We are looking for an Advanced Practice Nurse to work across a three-hospital system in southeastern Massachusetts, primarily supporting two Level II Special Care Nurseries (SCNs) at Charlton Memorial Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital, in collaboration with Neonatologists and Advanced Practice Providers within the Boston Children's Hospital Newborn Medicine Network.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing neonatal care in Level II A Special Care Nurseries, with current capabilities including high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), as well as CPAP and intubation for stabilization prior to transfer, with plans to advance toward Level II B designation to support CPAP administration beyond stabilization.
  • Managing neonates typically 32 weeks gestation, including those requiring respiratory support, thermoregulation, feeding support, and management of common neonatal conditions.
  • Performing delivery attendance and neonatal resuscitation, including advanced airway management and stabilization of critically ill newborns.
  • Leading and supporting stabilization and coordination of transport for infants requiring transfer to tertiary care centers.
  • Collaborating with obstetric, pediatric, respiratory therapy, and nursing teams to deliver high-quality, family-centered care.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives and program development, including expansion of respiratory care capabilities and innovative practices (e.g., LMA surfactant administration).
  • Supporting education and simulation-based training across interdisciplinary teams.
  • Providing clinical coverage through a mix of day shifts (9 hours), night shifts (15 hours), and 24-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays, with flexibility across sites.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Master of Science in Nursing
Experience:
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of NICU RN experience.
  • Level II/III NICU experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to practice independently in a Level II setting with off-site Neonatology backup, including neonatal resuscitation (NRP certified), endotracheal intubation, umbilical line placement, & vascular access, including peripheral and central line insertion.
  • Experience with HFNC, CPAP (including stabilization), and neonatal stabilization for transfer.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a commitment to family-centered, equitable neonatal care.
Licensure/ Certifications:
  • A current Massachusetts NP license.
  • Current certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
