I. JOB OVERVIEW






Job Description Summary:
Conflict Education & Student Accountability ( CESA), within the Division of Student Affairs, engages across GW to foster equitable and restorative accountability to community standards. We do this through:

1.Promoting individual rights and communal responsibilities,
2.Supporting community members to identify and repair harm, and
3.Growing community capacity for conflict management.

We are seeking an Administrative Assistant to lead the daily administrative operations and functions. While reporting to the Associate Director, other aspects of this position may include serving as a point of contact for internal and external partners.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitors and participates in answering phone, email, and walk-in inquiries from students, University faculty and staff, families, or the general public. Normally handles more complex inquiries in consultation with the CESA staff.
  • Manages the maintenance and retention of confidential conduct records, as required by federal law and university regulations, in the Maxient database system. Leads in the oversight of record creation, maintenance, and final review of all confidential student conduct materials. Leads in the annual review of records as per the Record Retention Schedule. Prepares correspondence at the direction of the Director or designee.
  • Processes disciplinary record requests from individuals internal and external to the University upon receipt of necessary information and signed disclosure/release forms.
  • Independently manages the administrative daily operations of CESA, including, but not limited to, uploading GW Police reports into the Maxient database system, monitoring supplies within the office and processing office purchases according to University guidelines, and collaborating with the Director regarding the departments' operating and compensation budget.
  • Maintains and updates the CESA website consistent with university style guide and constituency needs.
  • Manages the scheduling of panelists (faculty, staff, and students) for the University Integrity and Conduct Council (UICC), including communication, room reservations (when applicable for in-person meetings), and annual tracking of volunteer service hours.
  • Schedules committee and other meetings as needed for the CESA team.
  • Performs special research, compiles and analyzes significant data and suggests alternative policies, procedures, or work assignments to improve office operations or to comply with changing legal or funding requirements.
  • Compiles statistics and composes or assists in composing operational reports, related to conduct issues, trends, etc.
  • Collaborates with appropriate offices including the Campus Living & Residential Education, Student Outreach and Support, Military & Veteran Services, Student Life, Student Health Center, Office for Study Abroad, Registrar, GW Police Department, Athletics, Ethics and Compliance, and other partner offices.


Performs other duties as assigned by the Director and other full-time employees. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning other duties that are logically related to the position.

The position is based at GW's Foggy Bottom's Campus in Washington, DC.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/ GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Hiring Range $19.77 - $30.91
