Job Title: Service Engineer

Location(s): College Station, TX

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced On-Site Service Engineer (OSE) to support enterprise data center and server environments, including next-generation AI platforms. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role focused on maintaining uptime, resolving complex hardware issues, and delivering high-quality on-site service.

Prior AI experience is not required. Strong server, data center, hardware troubleshooting, and customer-service fundamentals are the primary requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site support for enterprise server and data center systems, ensuring rapid issue resolution and minimal downtime.
  • Perform server builds, swaps, component replacements, firmware updates, and hardware maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot issues across hardware, firmware, and operating systems, escalating complex issues when appropriate.
  • Perform reactive and preventive maintenance according to established procedures.
  • Support server deployments and replacements in data center environments.
  • Replace and troubleshoot components including CPUs, memory, power supplies, GPUs, and complete server systems.
  • Collaborate with internal technical teams and customers during service events.
  • Follow established Plans of Action (POAs) and technical procedures provided by support teams.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and real-time documentation of work performed.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing, technical documentation, and best practices.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide extended coverage when required.
  • Work independently while maintaining strong communication with customers and internal teams.
  • Stay current with evolving technologies, company announcements, procedures, and industry developments.
Required Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of experience in technical support, field service, data center operations, server support, or a related environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting server and data center hardware.
  • Experience working with server components such as:
    • CPUs
    • Memory
    • Power supplies
    • GPUs
    • Server motherboards/components
    • Complete server systems
  • Experience performing server builds, swaps, deployments, and component replacements.
  • Familiarity with Linux or similar operating systems.
  • Strong hardware troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience building or working on PCs.
  • Ability to follow technical procedures and Plans of Action (POAs).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a customer-facing, on-site environment.
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize work based on issue severity and customer requirements.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts and participate in on-call support.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform the physical requirements associated with data center work.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a security clearance, or prior experience holding a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting AI infrastructure or next-generation computing platforms.
  • Experience with GPU-based servers.
  • Experience with water-cooled server systems.
  • Dell or other server/vendor certifications.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.

  • Candidate lives within approximately 15-45 minutes of the work site.
  • Candidate is comfortable with the daily commute.
  • Candidate is willing to work varying shifts when required.
  • Candidate is willing to participate in on-call rotations.
Technical Ability
  • Hands-on server hardware experience.
  • Experience with CPU, memory, power supply, and GPU replacements.
  • Experience performing server builds, swaps, and deployments.
  • Experience replacing individual components as well as complete server systems.
  • Water-cooled server experience is desirable.
  • Linux familiarity.
  • PC-building experience.
  • Ability to follow provided POAs and technical procedures.
  • Demonstrates continuous technical learning and awareness of emerging technologies.
  • Capable of handling the physical demands of the position.
Documentation
  • Provides detailed, real-time documentation.
  • Demonstrates strong documentation habits.
  • Has prior experience documenting technical work, troubleshooting, and service activities.

Security & Clearance
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Must be able and willing to obtain a security clearance.
  • Prior security clearance experience is a plus.
Important Recruiting Notes
This position is highly hands-on and is best suited for candidates with direct server/data center hardware experience rather than candidates whose backgrounds are primarily help desk, desktop support, or software/application support.
