Basic Function: The Tooling Inspector - Machinist is primarily responsible for cleaning, dispensing, inspecting and tracking tooling used for production of fiber optic cable. The Tooling Inspector - Machinist also repairs and fabricates tooling utilizing torches, soldering, various hand tools, precision measuring devices, CNC equipment and surface grinding. Minimum Qualifications Required: Education: High School diploma or GED Experience: 1 to 3 years in a machine shop environment; PROTOTRAK conversational programming experience preferred; knowledge of a CAD drawing system (such as Autodesk Inventor is a plus) Other Minimum Qualifications: Ability to read and comprehend basic blueprints; demonstrates ability to use and understand calipers, micrometers and other precision measuring equipment; able to machine components using a tool room lathe and mill; qualified to employ various hand tools; basic ability to use Excel and Word. Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge: Must have mechanical aptitude with ability to use tools and precision measuring devices (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators) properly; ability to read and follow basic instructions and quality procedures; attention to detail; operate in a high volume, team environment; work independently and with minimal supervision to complete major job functions. Working Conditions: Able to regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with a disability to perform the essential functions. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. May be exposed to moderate fumes from smoke or chemicals.

Individual compensation is determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, internal equity, and business needs. New hires are typically hired below the midpoint of the range. Eligible positions may receive applicable shift differentials, skill premiums, or other forms of additional compensation. The regular schedule for this position is 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Friday - Sunday with some schedule flexibility required; overtime is also available. 33 hours/week with FT Benefits | |
