What to Expect

Come join a small team of engineers building the platform that connects Tesla to its vehicles, Robotaxis, Optimus robots, and energy products.

We own the backend behind every remote interaction with Tesla devices, from vehicle commands to real-time telemetry and over-the-air updates. Our systems deliver features like phone-as-key, cloud profiles, and vehicle sharing to millions of customers.

Our platform is at the core of Tesla's Robotaxi service, powering the ride-hailing experience for customers and the fleet orchestration behind it. We also serve as the foundation that engineering, service, sales, delivery, and manufacturing teams across Tesla depend on to move fast.

We're looking for a software engineer with distributed systems experience who wants to build at fleet scale.

What You'll Do
  • Design, build, and operate scalable backend services and APIs for vehicle connectivity, device commands, telemetry, and firmware delivery
  • Build and scale the systems powering Robotaxi and Optimus
  • Contribute to authentication and the developer platform (developer.tesla.com)
  • Take strong ownership of the systems you build, from design through production
  • Work closely with product, SRE, and infrastructure teams

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or the equivalent in experience
  • 3+ years building and operating production distributed systems
  • Strong experience with Go, or deep experience in another systems language and ready to learn
  • Solid understanding of the technologies you work with and their tradeoffs
  • Track record of end-to-end system ownership
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, Redis, or similar infrastructure
  • Web security fundamentals
  • You take initiative: see a problem, understand the context, fix it
  • You value consistency in how you build software, same patterns across services, same approach to tooling and deployment
