Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking a Hybrid Powertrain Fuel Economy Calibration Engineer for the Vehicle Energy Efficiency (VEE) Team. VEE Engineers are responsible for fuel economy calibration of HMG vehicles, on-road and on dyno testing, simulation, data analysis, benchmarking, identifying industry trends, and developing strategies for improving vehicle energy efficiency for hybrid and gas-engine vehicles.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

CoreResponsibilities:



  • Calibratefueleconomyfunctions
  • PerformtestingforfueleconomyandcoastdownaccordingtoEPAtestprocedures
  • Establishandsupporttargetsforvehicleenergyefficiency(MPG,MPGe,CO2,&AER)throughtestingandanalysisofcurrentandfuturevehicles
  • Benchmarkkeycompetitivevehiclesandrelatedpropulsionsystemtechnologies
  • Analyzecompetitivedatasetsandassessfuturetrendsinpassengervehiclefueleconomyandenergyefficiency-relatedtechnologies
  • Collaboratewithlabpersonnel,calibrators,andautomationengineerstoensuretestreadiness,resolveissues,andmaintaintestingcontinuity.
  • Design,execute,andimprovefueleconomytestplansandprocedures
  • Simulatevehicleenergyflows,losses,androadloadsfordetailedpresentations
  • CollaboratewithandsupporttheglobalR&DheadquartersteaminSouthKorea
  • Supportextended/weekendtestingandtravelupto25%domesticandinternationally.



CoreCapabilities:



  • Calibrationexperienceanddetailedunderstandingofvehiclepropulsionsystems,includinginternalcombustionengine,hybrid,and/orplug-inhybridvehicles
  • FamiliaritywithEPAcorporateaveragefueleconomy,greenhousegasemissionsstandards,andMonroneylabelcalculationsforpassengercarsandlighttrucks
  • Provenunderstandingofconventionalandhybridenergyflows,suchasdriveenergy,energylosses(i.e.,friction,aerodynamics,etc.),thermalloads,andenergyconversionefficiency.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

BasicQualifications:



  • Bachelor'sdegreeinmechanical,electrical,orrelatedengineeringfieldfromanaccrediteduniversity
  • 1+yearsofexperiencewiththeseresponsibilitiesandcapabilities
  • Working-levelknowledgeofvehicletestingtools,suchasETASINCA(orequivalent),andCANbusmonitoringapplications,suchasVectorCANalyzer(orequivalent)
  • Working-levelknowledgeofMATLABfordataanalysisandgraphing
  • Demonstratedabilitytocommunicateeffectivelywithpeers,management,andexecutivestaff
  • ValidDriver'sLicenseandasatisfactorydrivingrecord
  • Abletoworkinaculturallydiverseteamenvironment
  • Abletoworkinharshclimateconditions(i.e.,winter:-40F,summer:+120F,andaltitudeupto14,000feet)



PreferredQualifications:



  • Master'sdegreeinmechanical,electrical,orarelatedengineeringfieldfromanaccrediteduniversity
  • 5+yearsofexperiencewiththeseresponsibilitiesandcapabilities
  • Koreanlanguageskills
