JOB TITLE: Software Engineer - C Language & Embedded Systems

LOCATION: Morrisville / Cary, NC | Onsite | 3-4 yrs experience

1. Experience Level - 3 to 4 years. No new graduates.

* Must have already delivered embedded features end to end in a production environment. Academic or internship-only model-based work does not qualify.

2. Education - Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Software Engineering.

* Computer Software Engineering is the preferred degree.

* Automotive engineering backgrounds, and off-highway platform experience with mobile telecom exposure.

* Agricultural / off-highway equipment experience is also well aligned.

* Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science degrees will NOT be considered, regardless of experience.

3. MATLAB / Simulink - Model-Based Design, Development, and Testing

* Primary skill for the role. The candidate must have built production models, not just academic.

* Design: build Simulink/Stateflow models from written requirements, structure them for reuse across vehicle.

* Development: configure models for code generation and tune them against real system behavior.

4. C Language

* Strong C on embedded targets - the handwritten integration code that sits around the generated model code.

* Must be able to read, extend, and debug an existing internal codebase they did not write.

* Must understand the "stitch" code generated out of MATLAB: how it is produced, how it interfaces with handwritten C, and how to debug at the generated-code level.

5. Embedded Operating System - Full Lifecycle Knowledge

* Working knowledge of embedded OS concepts: scheduling, task timing, memory constraints, and drivers.

* Lifecycle command - the candidate should be able to walk through their own work from requirement writing, to model design, to code generation and stitch integration, to unit and functional test, through to release and delivery.

6. Testing on Riding Equipment

* Hands-on validation on the actual machines - mowers and comparable riding equipment.

* The candidate must be comfortable operating the equipment and testing their own software on the vehicle, not handing it off to a test group.

* Testing: run model-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop verification, author test cases against the model, and triage failures back to the model.

7. Control Systems Knowledge - Preferred

* Control theory fundamentals, controller design, tuning, and stability analysis applied to mobile equipment.

* Preferred, not required - a strong model-based candidate without deep controls background is still viable.

8. Travel

* Onsite role. Travel is infrequent - roughly once or twice per year.

* Local sites only: Morrisville (under 2 miles) and Fuquay-Varina (approximately 15 miles).
