Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Hospital Supply Distribution Assistant supports the efficient delivery, replenishment, inventory management, and distribution of medical supplies throughout UC Davis Health. The incumbent plays a vital role in ensuring patient care areas receive the supplies and materials needed to support daily operations. This position requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, inventory management knowledge, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to accurately calculate inventory replenishment quantities, weights, units of measure, and package counts.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of cost-effective materials management practices, including warehousing, purchasing, distribution methods, supply management techniques, processing functions, and product liability.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to receiving and processing hospital supply materials.
  • Understanding of healthcare supply chain operations, distribution logistics, inventory control, and product distribution procedures.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures related to materials handling and supply dispersal.

This position is essential to support the delivery of high-quality patient care by ensuring supplies and materials are available where and when they are needed throughout UC Davis Health.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push, pull, and/or maneuver carts on wheels weighing up to 600 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, climb ladders, stand, and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to extreme temperature changes and stressful situations.

  • This position is a critical position and may be subject to background check and drug screen. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history, identity checks and drug screening.
