Summary:

The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for patient care delivery, nursing, and nurse practice throughout CHRISTUS Children's. Provides vision and sets direction for quality evidence-based patient-centered care throughout the ministry. This Executive understands, aligns with, applies, and observes implementation and operationalization of High Reliability Principles. Fosters a decentralized participative management style for nursing based on a shared governance approach. Encourages innovative leadership at the department level promoting nurse's decision-making control over nurse practice. Establishes interdisciplinary teams throughout the ministry by supporting nursing care and patient care services. Builds collaborative nurse-physician relationships to provide safe, effective, and efficient patient care while ensuring nurses feel empowered to serve as patient representatives/advocates. Serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, consulting with and advising other senior leaders in the Ministry on issues relating to nursing and related operations. Recommends changes in resource allocation, policy, facilities, equipment, and programs in order to achieve the established objectives. Provides nursing personnel with leadership, decision-making, and direction in patient care services and defined areas. Responsible for assessing the environment, forecasting trends, transmitting values, communicating ideas, developing and implementing policies, managing, and initiating systems and programs that promote excellence in service and safety for patient care delivery and that create an excellent place to work.

Education:


  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required from an accredited university.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or equivalent in a related field

Experience:


  • A minimum of five (5) years of nursing director level experience.
  • Executive leadership experience in a health care system preferred.
  • Strong leadership ability and high energy level.
  • An ability to integrate and interpret data from diverse sources addressing issues of moderate to high complexity.
  • Knowledgeable regarding state and regulatory accrediting agencies.

Skills:


  • Ability to develop strong relationship with customers and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication/facilitation skills.
  • Knowledgeable of service excellence through the completion of the appropriate programs.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:


  • Current state RN Licensure.
