Position Summary

Responsible for the receipts and storage of parts, products and material to meet the inventory, production and operating needs of the site. Prepares and packages items for shipment to Customers, both internal and external. Works with Shipping and Receiving Supervisor to process Customer Orders and maintain proper inventory control.

Responsibilities

  • Performs typical receiving functions such as verifying counts and part numbers, matching paper or electronic Purchase Orders to goods received, evaluating the condition of packages for damage or loss, filing and record keeping.
  • Oversee incoming shipment and delivery activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Performs receiving transactions involving the receipt of products and materials and makes necessary adjustments under the direction of Procurement and/or Materials Management.
  • Corrects problems with incoming or shipments or inventory counts by selecting from one or more established procedures.
  • Coordinates and performs cycle counting activities; investigates inventory errors and reports results.
  • Reads work orders and schedules or follows oral instructions to determine and ascertain what materials need to be moved.
  • Moves material within the factory by physically carrying or using various material handling equipment as authorized.
  • Prepares and packs product for shipments using established procedures and policies.
  • Print Sales Orders through the use of paper instructions and computer schedules.
  • Reviews Sales Orders to determine method of shipment and Freight Payment Terms.
  • Creates and fixes shipping labels and other markings per instructions.
  • Corrects problems with outgoing shipments by selecting from one or more established procedures.


    • Represent the Shipping & Receiving Team in one of the five Parker Starpoint Hight Performance Teams.



    • Other duties may be assigned as required.

Qualifications

Education, Credentials and Previous Experience:


  • High School Diploma required

  • 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing environment, shipping or receiving required



Technical Depth and Breadth:


  • Basic computer skills

  • Operate handheld and barcode scanners

  • Able to follow written/verbal instructions and directions in English.

  • Learn and maintains required skill and proficiency to successfully accomplish full job responsibilities; willingly takes on new assignments.

  • Able to work proficiently (at least 3/4 dot on Skills Matrix) in 75% of the cells in the value stream and perform the most complex processes.

  • Technical troubleshooting with a high sense of independence.



Problem Solving and Analytical Skills:


  • In coordination with team members, initiate contact with other support groups to resolve problems.

  • Apply structured problem-solving skills to help drive improvement activities, Lean and Kaizen projects, HPT and TIB meetings.

  • Provide suggestions for improvement.

  • Consistently open to change and new ideas.

  • Application and knowledge of pareto charts, 5Y, Fish Bone Diagram and 10 Step Problem Solving.

  • Dependable, prompt and reliable with good overall attendance; present at workstation when required.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity.

  • Rotate functions in cells as needed.

  • Frequent lifting or moving of lightweight (<20 lbs.) materials, occasional lifting to 25 lbs. without assistance.

  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment as required, may include safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, and/or any other equipment deemed necessary.

  • Able to work in a non-air-conditioned plant year-round.

Competitive Compensation

  • Pay Range: $20/hr to $26/hr
