About This Role

The Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University invites applications for a clinical, term appointment as assistant or associate professor in Equine Surgery. Applicants must hold a DVM or equivalent degree and have completed a residency approved by the American College of Veterinary Surgery. Candidates eligible for board certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons will be provided study time for examination preparation when appropriate. The successful candidate should be committed to academia and dedicated to contributing to a high-quality teaching program.

The successful candidate must provide didactic and clinical instruction in equine surgery for veterinary students, interns, and residents, and must maintain a high-quality equine clinical service with a demonstrated commitment to building caseload and providing exceptional service and client communication. The balance of clinical and teaching components in the appointment are negotiable depending on the professional goals of the candidate and the needs of the DCS/VHC. Salary will be commensurate with the applicant's experience and qualifications. The start date is negotiable based on passing of a background check and submission of official transcripts.


About Us

The qualified person will join a dedicated team of equine medicine, surgery, field service, reproduction and large animal emergency medicine faculty members. In addition, each of the service areas have great support staff to fulfill the mission of quality patient care and exceptional customer service.


Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Clinical Assistant Professor:
    - DVM (or equivalent) degree

  • Clinical Associate Professor:
    - DVM and demonstrate excellence in clinical service, patient care, and clinical instruction.


The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Have completed a residency approved by the American College of Veterinary Surgery.
