The Environmental Specialist position is responsible to implement and administer standardized processes to ensure compliance to Federal, State, and Local regulations and corporate policies and procedures. This position will help facilities achieve world class status and impact corporate savings through the elimination of environmental impacts and implementation of projects to improve environmental operational efficiency. This specific position will focus on environmental compliance, Stellantis Industrial System (SIS) environmental domain activities, Environmental Management System (EMS 14001), and environmental improvement goals. The Environmental Specialist position will report to the Head of US Manufacturing Environmental Compliance and be responsible for, and not limited to:
- Manage environmental reports, compliance tasks, inspections, inventories and surveys; including data acquisition, documentation, monitoring, review, and approval
- Implement environmental training programs and training assessments to ensure required training is identified and conducted
- Conduct regular assessments of environment processes and perform corrective actions utilizing root cause analysis, 5-Why, Kaizens, etc. to ensure compliance;
- Advise plant leadership and corporate staff of compliance status and KPI achievements
- Analyze environmental incidents, determine root causes, implement corrective action and communicate this information to leadership;
- Support new programs to ensure that environmental design specifications and regulations are included;
- Coordinate communication of environmental regulatory inspection activity with plant leadership;
- Lead environmental projects to improve key performance metrics;
- Support the implementation and maintenance of the plant's environmental management system to meet ISO14001;
- Possess communication and management skills to successfully work with various levels and departments within the organization.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environment, Engineering, Science or related field
- Minimum of five years of relevant environmental compliance experience in a manufacturing setting (Title V, Industrial Wastewater, RCRA, SWPPP) such as auditing, consulting, industry, manufacturing, etc.
- Basic understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and requirements (Title V, RCRA, Industrial wastewater, SWPPP, SPCC, etc.)
- Willingness to work on any shift and additional hours, as required
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite and/or other software
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Environment, Engineering, Science or related field
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and requirements
- Environment related professional certifications (e.g. PE, CHMM)
- Automotive or manufacturing environmental compliance experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
