Altice USA
$102,816.00-$168,912.00
United States, New York, Bethpage
Jun 29, 2026

News 12 is our award-winning, hyper local news stationcovering communities throughout Long Island, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Westchester, Hudson Valley, Connecticut and New Jersey. News 12 New York is our National streaming service for regional news, weather and News 12 originals.

If you're committed to delivering high quality news and storytelling with a hyper local lens, we have positions available for both on and off-air talent with opportunities for development and growth.

Job Summary

You think platform-first. You see a story and immediately know how it should live on the web, on social, on streaming, and on linear - and how those versions differ. You love finding stories that matter to a local community, and you love developing the people who tell them. This is a leadership role at the center of the News 12 Power Desk - our regional, multi-platform content hub that has replaced the traditional assignment desk. As Content Executive Producer, you orchestrate all Power Desk activity: you guide every department, lead multi-platform thinking in editorial meetings, and set the daily agenda for what gets covered and how. You lead a team of Content Producers and Network Content Producers who both gather the news and publish it across platforms. You report to the Sr. Director, Digital and work closely with News Directors, the Network Executive Producer, and linear EPs. This is not a reformat-the-TV-script job. We create for each platform from the start. If that's how you think, this is your desk.

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate daily Power Desk operations across all platforms - web, social, push alerts, streaming, and linear - and set the daily agenda for what gets covered and how.
  • Lead multi-platform thinking in editorial meetings; ensure every story is discussed in terms of how it will be presented on digital, social, and linear - not just whether it airs.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Content Producers and Network Content Producers; recruit and hire, and conduct timely, effective reviews.
  • Hold the team to the desk's dual mandate - content gathering (phones, emails, confirming breaking news, dispatching crews) AND content posting (publishing to the website, sending push alerts, posting to social, and flagging trending stories).
  • Drive digital-first, platform-first creation - original content built for each platform, not rewrites of what aired. Champion stories that start on the web because that's where the audience is.
  • Uphold web story standards: strong, searchable (SEO) headlines; a lead that delivers the news; a compelling visual on every story; links to related coverage; and stories that are freshened and re-timestamped throughout the day. Require a human copyedit after any AI (CoPilot) first pass - spelling, grammar, and attribution checked before publish.
  • Set and enforce social-first standards: a hook in the first three seconds, platform-specific creation (what works on Instagram is not what works on Facebook), and adherence to the daily posting schedule (seven posts/day, breaking news excepted) published through Sprout. For breaking news graphics, keep numbers and locations in captions, not baked into the image.
  • Direct breaking news as a social-first event - fast and accurate - and coordinate multi-region response through the Breaking News chat.
  • Manage shift handoffs, regional collaboration, and cross-desk coordination through the Power Desk's Teams chat structure (Read Me, Breaking News, Regional Power Desk chats, Website and Social Network chats, Power Desk Roundtable).
  • Direct Network Content Producers on copyediting across regions and network-wide tasks (Univision, UGC approval, rolls, troubleshooting); escalate high-priority or sensitive items appropriately.
  • Coordinate vendor activity, including stringers and wire services, and manage reporter and photographer coverage to meet multi-platform needs.
  • Share relevant coverage across regions and loop in News 12 New York so the streaming audience gets the full picture across all seven regions.
  • Build an empowered, speak-up culture: producers don't wait for assignments - they flag what should go up and write it, ask for help when they need it, and divide and conquer.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred
  • Six years of news experience, including hands-on multi-platform content production (web, social, and linear)
  • Four years of supervisory or team-leadership experience preferred
  • Exceptional news judgment across platforms - you know what makes a story work on the web, on social, and on air, and how those decisions differ
  • Strong digital skills: SEO-aware headline and web writing, social-first content creation, and working fluency with publishing tools (Contentful, Sprout) and AI copyediting tools (CoPilot) used as an assist, not a replacement
  • News writing and copyediting ability for all platforms; sharp on grammar, accuracy, and attribution
  • Ability to perform many tasks simultaneously under pressure and to make fast, sound calls on breaking news
  • Excellent management and communication skills, with a track record of mentoring and developing producers
  • Ability to work morning hours a must
  • Humor: we like to have a good time while we work hard
