Role Overview
The Mechanical Inspector will provide oversight for the construction of solar projects' mechanical components in accordance with plan specifications and departmental guidelines to ensure that requirements regarding schedule, cost, and quality are met.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the Quality Assurance Inspector to ensure that the tracker system, including piles, torque tubes, and modules are installed in accordance with the projects mechanical design documents and suppliers' installation manual
- Provide oversight to ensure that the execution of work is in compliance with approved contracts
- Monitor the execution and implementation of the project schedule
- Develop effective relationships with contractors, suppliers, landowners, and the local community
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all project documents
- Review plans and procedures periodically and institute changes when necessary
- Develop and foster a spirit of project team effort
- Ensure that contractors abide by their own QA/QC plans
- Provide support in reviewing all contractors-supplied QA/QC documentation for completeness
- Identify critical issues and make recommendations to the Project Manager
- Review and comment on contractors'' schedules
- Assist the project team in meeting the overall project objectives
- Oversee contractors' mechanical construction installation and commissioning work
- Prepare daily reports outlining progress of the work
- Ensure that the company's safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives are achieved
- Provide input regarding the project design process
- Maintain effective lines of communication with all company personnel responsible for the project along with all general contractors and sub-contractors
- Support development of the mechanical construction portions of EPC contracts and exhibits

What we are looking for:
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 0-3 year in the power industry
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering, mathematics, construction, mechanical construction standards, and codes
- Understanding of Microsoft Products, Procore management Program and/or complementing products preferred
- Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise preferred
Behavioral Requirements:
- Ability to comprehend all construction documents including blueprints and drawings
- Ability to exhibit a professional demeanor to customers and otehr employees
- Visual acuity including sufficient depth perception, color recognition, and field of vision necessary to perform visual inspections, work with small parts, and take accurate measurements
- Strong problem-solving, statistical, and analytical skills
- Verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to be self-motivated
Physical demands & working conditions:
- Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
- Walking: Ability to walk .5 to 2 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on project sites.
- Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written verbal, diagram, or scheduled form
- Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
- Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
