Crisis Counselor Heritage Behavioral Health Center - Macon, DeWitt & Piatt Counties Full-Time \| Mobile Crisis Response \| Community-Based Role Positions Available on 2nd and 3rd shift Make a Difference When It Matters Most Heritage Behavioral Health Center is seeking compassionate, dedicated Crisis Counselors to join our Crisis Care Team. These full-time positions provide life-changing support to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises in a variety of community settings-including emergency departments, community agencies, and client homes. Our Crisis Care program responds to anyone, anywhere, and at any time, offering timely assessment, de-escalation, counseling, linkage to services, and aftercare support. Crisis Counselors play a vital role in helping individuals experiencing distress such as depression, anxiety, substance use concerns, or other behavioral health needs. What You'll Do Provide face-to-face, phone, and virtual crisis intervention in a timely and supportive manner Work with children, adolescents, and adults across a wide range of crisis situations Engage individuals admitted to inpatient psychiatric settings and link them to community supports Assist with involuntary admission processes at the Macon County Court Complete pre-admission screening assessments for nursing facility referrals Maintain strong relationships with referral sources and partner agencies Collaborate with internal and external providers-including crisis teams, case managers, counselors, psychiatric providers, and clinical leaders-to ensure coordinated, effective care What You Bring Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to engage individuals in behavioral health treatment during high-stress situations Flexibility-each day looks different, and crisis needs vary Knowledge of behavioral health diagnoses Ability to work with individuals with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, or dual diagnoses Understanding of psychiatry, medical services, and community resources Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication Ability to work independently in the community and collaboratively within a team Ability to navigate an electronic health record Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Commitment to ongoing learning and growth Education & Requirements Mental Health Professional designation may be considered with 5 years of clinical behavioral health work force experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in a human services, social work, psychology, education, or other related field preferred Master's-level Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHP) must obtain licensure within 2 years of employment Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance required Experience in crisis services strongly preferred Salary Range Mental Health Professional + 5 years' experience: $23.00/hour Bachelor's Degree: $25.00/hour Master's Degree: $60,000/annually Additional compensation with licensure and/or CADC Eligible for shift-differential for 2nd and 3rd shift Sign-On Bonus (eligible for one-year commitment): Bachelor's Degree + one year commitment: $2,500.00 Master's Degree + one year commitment: $5,000.00 Benefits You'll Love Wellness Days - Every other Friday off, PAID Generous vacation, sick, and personal leave Paid holidays Health Club/Fitness reimbursement Employee Assistance Program Continuing education opportunities Tuition assistance program Agency-provided life insurance and short-term disability Retirement plans (401k and Roth) Optional health, dental, vision, FSA (healthcare & dependent care), and supplemental life insurance Health insurance includes substantial agency contribution National Health Service Corps site - Eligible clinical staff may qualify for federal loan forgiveness Join Our Mission If you are passionate about helping individuals in crisis and want to be part of a team that responds with compassion, skill, and hope-we want to meet you.
