Shift:Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Approximately every third weekend after hours call required. Compensation: * Base Pay Range: $32.82 - $53.57 per hour, based on experience ABOUT THE JOB Children's Specialty Center Cardiology is currently recruiting a new Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer to join our team. We are seeking a well-qualified candidate with a thorough knowledge of congenital heart disease to work with our two pediatric cardiologists. Patients are seen in our child-friendly outpatient clinic, as well through weekday and on-call echocardiography services for inpatients at MU Children's Hospital on the same campus. We also conduct rural outreach clinics 1-2 times a month. The successful candidate must understand the challenges of working in a pediatric clinic and enjoy interacting with children and their families. We provide a wide variety of care for patients with congenital and acquired heart disease. As part of the MU Health Care system we offer exciting opportunities to work with residents, fellows and attending physicians in an academic setting. Call responsibilities include nights, weekends, and holidays, typically every third week. Our lab has one is equipped with Philips EPIQ 7C, CVx, and one portable 5500CV echocardiography machines. Sonographers generate technical reports for physicians using McKesson software and participate in the monthly educational echo conferences and QI/QA meetings. DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION Articulate precise understanding of how data flows in and out of the modality work area. Be attentive to patient satisfaction results and collaborate with management team on ways to improve the department in general and facility overall. Seek ways to improve systems and services. Assist with providing instruction to residents, fellows, students or other staff regarding ultrasonography equipment and procedures. Demonstrate ability to meet and sustain departmental expectations while completing work assignments as it pertains to patient care in an ethical manner. Maintain integrity of equipment with careful manipulation at all times and complete required quality control checks routinely. Assist the Medical Physicist in performing additional quality assurance testing as needed. Demonstrate sustained ability when interacting with patients, to follow the AIDET principles (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Expectation and Thank You). Ensure confidentiality of all patient information is maintained. Maintain current certifications and licensure status. Understand time clock expectations and adhere to attendance and punctuality guidelines. May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Registry eligible. Sonography-related certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within two (2) years as a condition of continued employment in this job classification. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
