Job Function Summary:

Involves managing or performing the administrative services or managing the full general operations of an academic or non-academic organization(s). Administrative services include activities in finance and human resources and may also include IT, facilities, or student services. General management activities include long and short range strategic planning in determining the mission and directing all activities of multi-disciplinary departments through subordinate management staff.

Generic Scope

Provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees. Functions as advisor to unit and administration. Analyzes and resolves problems, interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives.

Custom Scope

Under the direction of the Guest Screening Services Manager, the Guest Screening Services Site Supervisor will ensure guest screening services are effectively delivered to patients and guests of UCSF Health, having oversight of an entire campus with multiple screening locations (BCH-Oakland, Mission Bay, Parnassus, or Mount Zion). They will have primary responsibility for supervising the Guest Screening Services Leads and the Guest Screening Services Representatives, temps, interns and volunteers, handling customer service issues, and ensuring compliance of standard work processes.

Department Overview

UCSF Guest Screening Services Team has the privilege of greeting, screening, badging, escorting and assisting patients and guests at our UCSF Health Information Desks. Our team has a critical influence on the experience and safety of our patients and are ambassadors of UCSF services. We work closely with a diverse public population and members of the UCSF medical staff and community. Our staff are expected to exceed UCSF service standards.

They are responsible for staff compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. They are responsible for scheduling staff, staff timesheet review and sign-off, evaluating staff performance, and providing feedback to staff on a regular basis on their work performance.

The Guest Screening Services Site Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all processes, systems and tools for screening, badging, and checking-in patients are functional, and identifies gaps and areas for process and system improvement. They are responsible for ensuring all supplies have been ordered and deployed as needed at each work site.

20 Yes The Guest Screening Service Site Supervisor has responsibility for oversight at each campus they supervise for troubleshooting and resolving service issues related to screening, checking-in, badging, greeting, and escorting patients and guests of UCSF Health. They are the campus-level point of escalation for all service issues that occur at their location, working with Manager and Director as needed to resolve. They will create a welcoming atmosphere while ensuring all those we serve are safely screened and badged as appropriate.
10 Yes The Guest Screening Services Site Supervisor is responsible for the appearance of the information desks and screening areas. They are also responsible for patient escorting operations as needed, collaborating with Transport leadership as needed.
