Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Emily Couric Cancer Center

As a Certified Medical Assistant at the Emily Couric Cancer Center, you will support patients receiving oncology care, specialized therapies, and long-term treatment. Working closely with nurses, providers, and support staff, you will help maintain safe, efficient clinical operations while providing the attentive care that can make a difficult day feel more manageable.

The Role

This is a hands-on clinical opportunity for a CMA who thrives in a fast-paced specialty environment and values the relationships built through continuity of care. You will support a diverse patient population, often seeing individuals throughout weeks, months, or years of treatment, and become a trusted part of their care experience.

Schedule options include five 8-hour weekday shifts or four 10-hour weekday shifts, scheduled within department operating hours of 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Intermittent weekend coverage may be needed, with weekend hours generally from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Your average day may include:

• Escorting and rooming patients while creating a welcoming, respectful clinical experience.

• Obtaining and documenting vital signs, recognizing pertinent findings, and escalating concerns to the triage RN as appropriate.

• Performing peripheral IV placement, laboratory specimen collection, blood draws, and ECGs within your scope of practice.

• Administering oral medications and non-hazardous injections as delegated.

• Supporting nurses during complex clinical trials by collecting frequent vital signs and completing ECGs at designated protocol time points.

• Independently collecting and documenting vital signs during outpatient cellular therapy transplants.

• Assisting during infusion-related drug reaction responses through delegated nursing activities, including obtaining vital signs and ECGs.

• Providing comfort measures such as blankets, snacks, and supportive conversation.

• Stocking supply carts and helping maintain an organized, treatment-ready environment.
