RN Supervisor, Surgery (OR) - La Jolla

This is a full time, benefited, exempt OR RN Supervisor position at La Jolla Memorial Hospital in the brand new tower. The shift is a varied day shift with flexibility to cover rotating administrative call responsibilities amongst the leadership team. This position is a combination of administrative and clinical OR patient care duties.

This role is eligible for the Supervisor incentive compensation plan.

Responsibilities include: A combination of administrative and clinical duties. Ensures nursing practice reflects established standards of care and practice and a culture that promotes patient safety. Under the general direction of the Patient Care Manager, shares leadership responsibilities for the nursing unit, including managing scheduling, timecards, annual reviews, and service time meetings. Ensures appropriate and timely use of bed placement technology and adherence to care processes for bed placement/patient transfer/patient transport/room cleaning and patient discharge. Ensures the safe transition of patients thru the continuum of care to include active participation of nursing staff in planning and coordinating patient care, and direct hand-off to next appropriate level of care. Assists with covering breaks and with patient care.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills

* CA RN License

* Two years OR RN experience and One year in a leadership role.

* Excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, planning and follow-through.

* Ability to exercise the authority and responsibility for assigned services based on the scope of the organization and complexity of patient care.

Graduate of an accredited RN program.

* Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider and all competencies/certifications required of the charge RN on the unit.

Preferred Qualifications:

* 5 years OR experience

* 2 years leadership experience

* BSN and/or certification in area of specialty if applicable.

* CNOR certificate
