Stonington Institute is committed to providing quality substance abuse treatment options for adultsin Southeastern Connecticut and surrounding areas. We offermedical detox aswell as residential addictions treatment for active duty and retired military service members in our North Stonington location. Our clinic in Groton, CT, offers partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment, and is conveniently located across the street from The Inn at Trails Corner, a new 180 bed dormitory-style sober community for adult men and women who attend our outpatient day treatment programs. The Inn offers overnight accommodations, full-meal service, indoor/outdoor recreation options, a workout room, and computer center for all clients. We accept private insurance, state-funded plans and self-pay arrangements.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care, assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing treatment plan.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

* Assess clients thoroughly upon admission and as needed.

* Accurately transcribe and implement physician's orders.

* Assess clients withdrawing from substances using facility approved assessment scales.

* Develop appropriate and effective treatment plans for all active problems identified in the nursing assessment. Set appropriate behavioral, observable, and measurable goals and develop effective interventions to help clients achieve their goals.

* Administer medications and treatments as ordered.

* Educate clients on medications, health maintenance, substance abuse, and other applicable topics.

* Monitor the medical aspects of treatment of persons afflicted with substance dependence and behavioral health conditions.

* Recognize the physical and psychological effects of substance use, symptoms of withdrawal, and related medical emergencies.

* Supervise unlicensed personnel on the unit and enforce Stonington Institute policies and procedures.

* Communicate with community healthcare providers, hospitals, and emergency personnel to ensure the health and safety of Stonington Institute clients.

* Provide a structured environment through consistent implementation of policies and procedures as outlined by Director of Nursing.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) Requirement:

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing with a current State of Connecticut R.N. License
  • Minimum of one year experience working in the Mental Health or Substance Abuse field preferred
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays
  • May be required to work overtime and holdover shifts
