The Engineer II position is the intermediate level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Engineer II position solve complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with general supervision. An Engineer II is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer II effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is fairly complex and varied.

The Engineer III position is the advanced level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Engineer III position solve complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision. An Engineer III is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer III effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressively complex and varied.

This position is part of DPAC (Distribution Protection & Automation Control) team where they will perform protection/coordination studies, provide support for PSC (Power System Center), perform studies, reviews, and approvals for Distributed Generation Tier 2 & 3 Interconnection requests. Successful candidates will be responsible for password management, validating commissioning & engineering access, troubleshooting, configuring devices remotely, and ensuring event reports & logs are successfully retrieved automatically. Candidate will also be responsible for planning for Fuse replacement deployment, which includes generating target locations and documenting the various protection device settings that need to be updated.

Key Responsibilities:
- Creating and reviewing recloser setting files.

- Populating feeder relay Green Sheets.
- Perform studies necessary for the SOG (Self-Optimizing Grid) teams project.

- Perform protection/coordination studies.

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
  • Understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam.
  • Understanding of basic principles of project management.
  • Experience in the utility industry.
  • Department specific experience applicable to the hiring department.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Working Conditions

Specific Requirements
    • Must have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
    • Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience
    • A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.
