What You'll Do:

Pelican is seeking a strategic and influential Director, Environment, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) to lead our global EHSS function across Technical Packaging operations. As the senior EHSS leader, you will partner with executive leadership to develop and execute enterprise-wide strategies that protect employees, safeguard assets, ensure regulatory compliance, and support sustainable business growth.


This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, risk management, and operational excellence across a global manufacturing organization.



Strategic Leadership



  • Develop and execute Pelican's global EHSS strategy, objectives, and performance metrics aligned with business goals
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on EHSS risks, compliance requirements, and emerging industry trends
  • Lead the development of governance frameworks, management systems, and continuous improvement initiatives that drive world-class EHSS performance
  • Present EHSS performance, risk assessments, and strategic initiatives to executive leadership and key stakeholders


Environmental, Health & Safety Leadership



  • Lead EHSS programs across global manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company standards
  • Champion a safety-first culture through employee engagement, leadership accountability, and proactive risk reduction initiatives
  • Oversee audits, assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action programs to continuously improve safety performance
  • Drive injury prevention, occupational health, ergonomics, and workplace risk management programs
  • Establish and monitor EHSS KPIs to support data-driven decision-making and operational excellence


Security & Risk Management



  • Provide strategic oversight of physical security programs protecting employees, facilities, intellectual property, and company assets
  • Lead emergency preparedness, crisis management, and business continuity planning efforts
  • Partner with Operations and Security leadership to assess risks and implement mitigation strategies across the enterprise


Compliance & Sustainability



  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, environmental permitting, hazardous waste, and other regulatory requirements
  • Monitor evolving regulations and proactively implement compliance strategies across the organization
  • Lead environmental sustainability initiatives and support corporate responsibility objectives
  • Evaluate environmental and operational risks associated with acquisitions, expansions, and new business initiatives


Leadership & Organizational Development



  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing global EHSS organization
  • Establish performance expectations, succession plans, and development programs for EHSS professionals
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous learning throughout the organization


Systems & Continuous Improvement



  • Lead EHSS management systems, reporting platforms, and compliance processes to ensure audit readiness and operational excellence
  • Drive continuous improvement through analytics, benchmarking, technology, and industry best practices
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Facilities, HR, Security, and Product Development to embed EHSS principles throughout the business
  • Perform additional duties as assigned



What We're Looking For:



  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive EHSS leadership experience within manufacturing, industrial, distribution, or related environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-site or global EHSS programs and initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, occupational health, workers' compensation, environmental compliance, and risk management programs.
  • Experience conducting regulatory compliance audits, incident investigations, risk assessments, and corrective action management.
  • Strong occupational health expertise, including ergonomics, human factors, and injury prevention programs.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with leaders and employees at all organizational levels.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and EHSS management systems.

What You May Be Doing:

Compensation & Benefits:
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across severalU.S. geographic markets. Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The annual U.S. pay range for this positionis listed below. Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on your qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills,and experience.
