DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides dental examinations, treatment, and oral health education to residents across multiple facilities in the Eastern Region. As a Dentist, you will perform the following duties:

  • Dental Examinations: Perform exams, review x-rays, and provide cleanings and treatments for residents
  • Professional Treatment: Provide restorations, root canals, extractions, periodontal care, and infection treatment
  • Oral Health Guidance: Educate residents on hygiene practices and develop individual dental service plans
  • Infection Control: Implement sterilization procedures and ensure safe handling of equipment and materials
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate documentation, summaries, and consent forms for all dental services
  • Team Collaboration: Provide consultation to staff and coordinate scheduling and follow-up care

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hour per week
  • Work hours will vary, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is headquartered at the North Central Secure Treatment Unit. You will rotate weekly between the three Eastern Region sites: North Central Secure Treatment Unit in Montour County, North East Secure Treatment Unit in Luzerne County, and the Southeast Youth Development Center in Montgomery County.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $162,876.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Graduation from an approved school of dentistry.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Special Requirement:
  • You must be in possession of a license to practice dentistry issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
