Position Summary

Perform all duties necessary to the efficient operation of all equipment in the plant. Operate and maintain plant equipment in accordance with standard work and building procedures.

Responsibilities

  1. Must be capable of following and meeting standard work requirements

  2. Must be able to use computer programs to assist in recording data, making labels, printing tooling layouts, obtaining prints and specifications, printing ship-sets, etc.

  3. Set-up, adjust, and operate Multiple Spindle Automatic Screw Machines on a variety of parts, involving machining techniques such as setting attachments, turning, threading, recessing, boring, thread rolling, forming, shaving, reaming, etc.

  4. Must be capable of working from blueprints, operation sheets, or specifications in selecting cutting tools, gears, and cams

  5. Check one's own set-up using a variety of precision measuring instruments

  6. Make necessary adjustments to produce parts within close limits where finish requirements are difficult to maintain

  7. Check the parts produced with a variety of precision measuring instruments, and maintain tool and machine adjustments and sharpen and reset tool as required

  8. Be accountable for process, evaluation, measurement, documentation, and improvement on a continuous basis

  9. Promote positive teamwork

  10. Able to foster professionalism with all associates along with internal and external customers

  11. Ability to work overtime, including short-notice overtime and weekend coverage to meet business needs

Qualifications

  1. Continue to keep current in skills through training, classes and on the job training

  2. Actively participate in department and process team activities and projects

  3. Instruct lower rated operators when necessary

  4. Other duties may be assigned at a later time

  5. Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures in a manner that eliminates risk to health and the environment. Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately.

  6. Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
