Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Billing Supervisor. The Billing Supervisor oversees a team of billing staff and ensures timely accounts receivable management and financial clearance activities. This role provides direct supervision, evaluates staff performance, monitors productivity and quality, and partners with management to implement policies and process improvements. Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of billing team members.
- Assign, monitor, and review work to ensure quality and productivity standards are met.
- Conduct regular staff training and performance evaluations, providing feedback and coaching as needed.
- Monitor reports and work queues to ensure timely accounts receivable follow-up and financial clearance activities are completed; develop action plans to address gaps.
- Communicate delays, barriers, and unresolved issues to Assistant Manager or Manager. Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of billing rules, payer requirements, and compliance standards. Support implementation of new processes, workflows, and system enhancements.
- Serve as liaison between billing staff, leadership, and other departments.
- Ensure adherence to compliance, regulatory, and organizational standards.

- Patient Experience and Access:
- Drives consistency in every patient and colleague encounter by embodying the core principles of our Billing Department Service Strategy CARES (Connect, Align, Respond, Ensure, and Sign-Off)
- Greets patients warmly and professionally, stating name and role, and clearly communicates each step of the care/interaction as appropriate
- Works collaboratively with colleagues and site management to ensure a positive experience and timely resolution for all patient interactions and inquiries whether in person, by phone or via electronic messaging.
- Proactively anticipates patient needs, and participates in service recovery by applying the LEARN model (Listen, Empathize, Apologize, Resolve, Notify), and escalates to leadership as appropriate.
- Shares ideas or any observed areas of opportunity, to improve patient experience and patient access, with appropriate leadership. (i.e. ways to optimize provider schedules, how to minimize delays, increase employee engagement, etc.
- Partners with internal and external team members to support collaboration and promote a positive patient experience. Takes a proactive approach in ensuring that practice staff are fully versed in the Access Agreement gold standard principles.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate's Degree with 1-3 years or a H.S. Diploma with 3 years of work experience preferably in a Medical billing/Healthcare setting. At least 1 year of direct experience in a supervisory/leadership role preferably in Medical billing/Healthcare setting. Ability to handle multiple tasks at once; good communication, interpersonal, and computer skills. Arrive on time for work and meetings. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff and management. High level of accuracy for reviewing work performed by staff, preparing and presenting analyses, and in staff education. Maintain current insurance regulatory policies and requirements relevant to the specialty. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Familiar with standard office equipment. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments. Strong critical thinking and effective listening skills. Professional demeanor and positive attitude required. Time management skills required. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with peers, other staff and leadership.
