DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this Clerical Supervisor 1 role, you will oversee and guide clerical staff at the BPOA Pittsburgh Call Center. We will rely on you to handle all day-to-day center operations including assigning work, coordinating phone coverage, and supporting effective staff teamwork, as well as share your professional insights and experience to help management enhance team processes and phone systems. Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Call Center Oversight: Supervise call center activities and business processes, coordinate phone coverage and staff scheduling, assign work, and organize and monitor ticketing workflows
  • Performance Management: Review completed work, prepare performance evaluations and detailed productivity reports, and create and provide training
  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with management to develop and implement clerical processes that use enhancements in electronic systems, including the phone systems, to streamline workflow
  • Technical Coordination: Work with telecommunications and IT staff to resolve system issues, suggest helpful changes, and keep call center systems up and running
  • Customer Support: Respond tactfully and promptly to public inquiries and determine when calls require escalation or special handling

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Parking is provided in a secure garage.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, after successful completion of the probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
