Design & Release Engineer

Location: Dearborn, MI

Pay Rate: $42.30/hour

Schedule: Hybrid - 4 Days In Office (Monday-Thursday)

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Systems Design & Release Engineer to support advanced automotive software and driver assist technology programs. This role focuses on embedded systems development, software integration, diagnostics, and vehicle communication systems within chassis and powertrain applications.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on technical experience with embedded controls, software validation, supplier collaboration, and automotive system development in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Responsibilities



  • Support supplier partners through the Global Product Development System (GPDS)
  • Assist with driver assist and embedded software feature development
  • Support software releases, OTA updates, diagnostics, and validation activities
  • Investigate Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and support Quality Early Detection (QED)
  • Support prototype vehicle builds, software flashing, and issue resolution
  • Collaborate on vehicle network communications including CAN and cross-module systems
  • Lead or support Software Technical Design Reviews (TDRs)
  • Assist with service manual development, Breadboard/HiL testing, and End-of-Line (EOL) support
  • Participate in Agile software development processes and ASPICE compliance activities



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science required
  • 2+ years of experience in chassis or powertrain embedded systems development
  • Strong technical understanding of automotive embedded controls and software systems
  • Experience with requirements management, diagnostics, and supplier collaboration
  • Familiarity with CAN communication, FMEA, and quality assurance processes
  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink, Stateflow, or systems modeling tools preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills
