Wentworth Health Partners (WHP), an affiliate of Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and member of Mass General Brigham Medical Group, offers Pulmonary care at our state-of-the-art facility located at 10 Members Way, Suite 401, in Dover, NH. This position will support our expert providers who specialize in the care of patients with a wide range of pulmonary and respiratory conditions, including obstructive and restrictive lung diseases, respiratory failure, lung cancer, occupational lung disease, and more. We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to join our Pulmonary team. The schedule is Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. As true partners to our nurses and providers, our Medical Assistants have the opportunity to work autonomously at the top of their education/certification while also functioning as part of a collaborative team. Our practice has four physicians, with Medical Assistants rotating between providers to promote collaboration, skill development, and exposure to different practice styles. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the role includes administrative support duties. The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions: -Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training. -Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record. -Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education. -Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach. -Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated. -Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates. -Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider. -Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
