Who we are and what we do: The mission of the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) is to operate safe and secure prisons and provide effective community supervision in order to enhance public safety. The department manages and operates or oversees 14 state prisons housing approximately 21,000 offenders. In addition, the department supervises some 79,000 offenders on probation, parole, or community correction and operates eight Day Reporting/Community Resource Centers across the state. The department is fully accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA). Job Overview: This position requires play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and compliant operation of privately managed facilities under the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC). Authorized by the Commissioner, these monitors serve as the approving authority for various operational and inmate-related functions at CoreCivic sites, including HCCF, SCCF, TTCC, and WCFA. Given the high incidence of use of force, violence, and other critical incidents, CMOs are required to be on call 24/7, providing intensive oversight and ensuring contractual compliance. Their responsibilities include approving budget invoices, restrictive housing placements, use of force incidents, and inmate transfers, as well as conducting facility inspections and handling inmate inquiries. By maintaining rigorous oversight and ensuring adherence to policies, CMOs significantly contribute to the state's goals of maintaining safety, security, and operational efficiency within correctional facilities.
